Greetings from Asia Department – Medan Office!
May this letter serve as a formal invitation for “Pastor for Peace” at GKJTU-LPPL (Noble Character Center) Kopeng, Central Java, Indonesia, on 14-23 November 2016. The focus for this year’s program will be on religious radicalism in the point of view of Islam and Christians.
The “Pastors for peace” program is to assist and raise awareness of pastors who are engage in peacemaking ministry. We intend to do the following:
1. To equip with vital information on topics related to religious radicalism and new trends on radicalism in three regions; and, skills in conflict management, fact-finding and documentation.
2. To train pastors in building and sustaining positive relationships to enhance their personal integrity, reduce violence and foster mutual respect in a context of diversity and pluralistic community.
3. To deepen their commitment/call in doing peacemaking as a ministry.
Therefore, it is expected that after the training, the pastors will able to facilitate trainings and make plans of action on peacemaking in their own congregations and/or communities; and, actively participate in peace advocacy and conflict transformation in their own churches and communities.
